Getting to know our broker: Ashley York
Realtopia’s Designated Managing Broker Ashley York received the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® 20 under 40 award May 25. This award is so well deserved as Ashley York is truly a dedicated agent and broker here at Realtopia. Without her, this brokerage would be lost.
Ashley went to college and graduated with a major in finance and a minor in MIS, so how did she end up in real estate?
She said after seeing the 9 to 5 lifestyle, she knew it was not for her. So in 2009, she made the switch and got her real estate license. For the next 8 years, Ashley would reside at Century 21 pride, but she wanted more.
“I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur,” she said.
In 2017, she made her dreams and goals a reality, opening Realtopia Real Estate alongside her cousin Kristen Shedor and her husband Andy York.
Ashley said they wanted to create a brokerage that was different from the big name franchises she had come from. She wanted to start her own independent brand where she could create a different culture, and that is what she did.
Realtopia is an innovative brokerage located in Lockport, IL that has allowed their agents to soar and reach their true potential.
“It is really rewarding to help people and to be a mentor,” Ashley said.
Before becoming a managing broker, she always loved helping clients find their dream home and to make them happy, this same passion shines through in her work at Realtopia. She is always motivating agents to be the best versions of themselves.
“From the time I started in real estate back in 2013 until now, Ashley has been such a motivational person to me and continues to be a role model to not only myself but all of the agents in our office!” Shedor said.
Ashley is dedicated to her work and this office, but she is also an amazing person.
As a mother of two young children and wife, she is constantly trying to set a great example for her family. Although it is a challenge, she manages to balance work and family and she hopes one day her children will learn from her passion.
She said she hopes her children will see her perseverance and be motivated by that in their futures.
She believes perseverance is a large part of her success today. She said even when things get hard, you have to show up every day.
“You have to be super optimistic to run a business,” Ashley said. “You don’t always see instant results, but you have to keep going.”
This award was such an honor for Ashley as she felt it was reassuring to her that Mainstreet recognized her determination to the industry.
Her work is not done either, she plans to keep up with the latest tech and trends for her agents and provide her brokerage with the best support there is.
“She is an amazing person who always puts others first,” Real Estate Broker Kristina Klein said.
