Start a home improvement resolution list
When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, only about 9% of people who set a resolution actually keep it, according to a 2016 study. That is strikingly low, but think about it. When was the last time you actually kept that resolution past June? So let’s all be honest, most resolutions won’t get accomplished. But what if there were more achievable resolutions, not only for yourself, but for your home!
Several studies have shown that setting monthly goals is one way to make sure you achieve goals. That being said, try setting a personal goal, and a home improvement goal for each month of 2022.
It might sound difficult to come up with all those goals, but if they are small simple tasks, you can check them off at any point and get ahead!
Here is a list of some home improvement goals you can set for yourself throughout the year!
Paint a room
Add storage or shelves
Organize the garage
Upgrade light fixtures
Add plants inside or outside
Do an inspection for any visible indoor or outdoor defects/damages
Add LED bulbs to make your home more energy efficient
Redo the entryway
Add or change paintings/wall decor
Clean grout and tile
Purge unnecessary items
Add an accent wall of wallpaper in a room
Start using a better organization system such as colored-coded laundry baskets
Change your HVAC filter
Clean all windows, inside and out
Organize kitchen cabinets
Deep clean carpets
While some of the improvements listed above are harder than others, pick the ones that work for you and what is best suited for your home. Small improvements once a month will get you excited about your home again and could give you a sense of renewal. Give it a try!
